The Ogun State Islamic Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that it will start a two-day health check for Muslim pilgrims in 2024 from 5 to 7 in March.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Principal Secretary to the government, Alhaji Salau Dauda, made available to Newsmen in Abeokuta on Saturday.
Every year, millions of Muslims from all over the world flock to Mecca each year to perform the Hajj, the holy pilgrimage for Muslims.
Hajj became obligatory for every able-bodied adult with financial means after Prophet Muhammad’s “Farewell Pilgrimage”in 632 AD.
Dauda said the exercise would be conducted at Block B, Government Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Governor’s Office, Abeokuta, adding that the scheduled pilgrims should be available for the exercise.
He said that the medical tests will ensure the health status of each pilgrim so that he can give the necessary medical advice before starting the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina.
“All pilgrims must attend this health screening and information and awareness programs scheduled on Saturday, March 9 at 9:30 am at a government venue.
He said the participation of eligible pilgrims is mandatory and an integral part of the exercise.
