NIMC DG Charges FEPs on Inclusivity, Data Protection, Begins Payment of Outstanding Arrears

Director General and CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has urged the Commission’s Front End Enrolment Partners (FEPs) to ensure inclusivity in the National Identity Number (NIN) registration process while adhering to data protection regulations.

During the Commission’s Retreat themed “NIMC’s 5-point Agenda on Strategy Development and Implementation,” on Friday which was aimed to garner stakeholder buy-in for the Commission’s initiatives and address long-term challenges, Coker-Odusote emphasized the vital role of FEPs in the enrollment ecosystem.

“Our mission at NIMC is clear: to equip each Nigerian and legal resident with a unique and secure National Identification Number (NIN). However, in order to accomplish this, we must ensure the integrity of our enrollment process,” she stated.

She urged FEPs to treat candidates’ information with care and professionalism, highlighting the importance of safeguarding the database from errors and fraud. Coker-Odusote emphasized the need for accessibility and inclusivity in the enrollment process, urging collaboration with schools, hospitals, and community leaders to reach all segments of society.

According to NINMC’s official statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communications Kayode Adegoke, Coker-Odusote announced the commencement of payment for outstanding arrears owed to the partners, demonstrating the Commission’s commitment to fulfilling its financial obligations.

In response, FEPs commended the government, particularly Coker-Odusote, for initiating payment of the outstanding arrears. They welcomed the ongoing revalidation effort as a step towards improving the system’s efficiency and effectiveness.
