The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has made a desperate appeal for $540 million to aid six million people displaced by conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The agency stated that it faces extreme prioritisation, leaving millions of vulnerable people without food assistance as needs continue to outpace available resources in the DRC.
Natasha Nadazdin, WFP’s Deputy Country Director, emphasised the situation’s urgency, calling for funds to address the growing humanitarian needs as the conflict in the region persists.
Nadazdin said: “WFP urgently needs 397 million dollars for essential food and nutrition assistance in eastern DRC over the next six months to assist the 1.5 million people prioritised and a total of $543 million to keep operations going countrywide.”
The UN Office for Humanitarian Coordination reported that as of mid-August, only $747 million of the $2.25 billion required for the Congo’s displaced was available.
This significant funding gap highlights the urgent need for international support to address the dire situation in the DRC.

My cousin recommended this page to me, but no one else seems to know my concerns as well as he does, so I’m not sure whether he wrote this post. You are amazing; I appreciate you.
