Officials from the Department of State Services (DSS) have seized the Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), an act that the organization has described in a statement on Monday, as an “illegal takeover.”
The incident was disclosed in a statement on SERAP’s official X account on Monday, where the organization alleged that officers from the DSS were requesting a meeting with its directors. SERAP has urged President Bola Tinubu to take action, asserting that this situation amounts to harassment and intimidation.
SERAP urged President Tinubu to promptly instruct the SSS to stop the harassment, intimidation, and violation of Nigerians’ rights.
This update follows a request made by the organization just a day earlier, urging Tinubu to direct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to undo the recent increase in petrol prices, which SERAP has labelled as unlawful and unconstitutional.
