President Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, witnessed the historic agreements Signed between the two countries in Doha on Sunday, paving the way for opportunities for mutual cooperation on important issues in education, business development, investment promotion, youths empowerment, mining, tourism and sports.
The matter was announced on Sunday, by Ajuri Ngela, the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.
Before the signing ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Qatar, President Tinubu assured his Nigerian host and willingness to welcome investors into the country, citing continued reforms, return of investment and multiculturalism.
Tinubu said,” Our strength lies in the talented Nigerian youths. They have energy, talent and confidence, they are quality partners to the Qatari industry, they are educated and reliable, and they proactively seek to create value at every opportunity. The few cannot give the many a bad name.
“Nigerian youths are ready to break free for the benefit of both countries. We clearly saw the rapid pace and thorough quality of Katarand’s development process. It is impossible not to be moved by what you have accomplished. The country and the leadership have shown their strength and we are here to gain a deeper understanding. You cannot get Nigeria and ROI anywhere in the world and a huge market with over 200 million skilled Nigerians who are always hardworking and ready to work.
We are currently facing short-term unrest, but we have a government today that reflects the dynamism and talent of the Nigerian people and we implement the right solutions.
This team works with each other and with our partners. Nigeria is ready for serious companies said the president.
The Emir of the State of Qatar emphasized that Qatar is open to the investment aspirations of President Tinubu, recalling that in 2019 he traveled to Nigeria because he considered Nigeria an important and strategic ally.
As part of their responsibilities for regional affairs, have no doubts about the great capacity of the Nigerian people. They are known worldwide for their brilliance and hard work. We just have to make sure it happens within Nigeria and not outside. Investments from around the world have been like this, because we take our time and explore opportunities in advance when we invest in the common assets of people. It’s not my money. The money we invest belongs to the future generations of Qatar.
Dear President, I am very encouraged by your actions and passion to create new opportunities. We are very open to that and we are now following. The will is there for both of us, but we have to follow it. I will send a team of officials to Nigeria after Ramadanband, we will discuss possible investment opportunities, the Qatari leader said.
President Tinubu immediately appointed the Coordinating Minister of Economy and Finance, Wale Eduni, to lead a government team that will work with the Qatari authorities to identify and implement future investments.
Tinubu also allowed the Minister of Solid Mineral Development, Dr. Dele Alake, to give a brief introduction to the Emir during the bilateral talks.
He spoke in detail about the high-quality properties of several different minerals, including lithium, which is readily available throughout the country. Highlighting the immediate potential of local mineral processing and ancillary industries in the sector.
